Thousands of catfish died during a fish kill on Falls Lake on May 28th through the 30th. The state initially reported 30 dead fish, but witnesses indicated “dead fish were everywhere.” Upper Neuse Riverkeeper Dean Naujoks counted 678 fish in the Lich and Little Lich Creek arm (near Sandling Beach) of Falls Lake alone. The new state total for the fish kill stands at 1400.
